I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Iowa and a Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™). I specialize in working with pre-school and elementary aged children ages 3-10 years old using play therapy as well as art and sand tray therapy techniques. Play Therapy is one of the first approaches developed specifically for children. It allows me to work with kids to process feelings and events, and practice and learn new skills in a way that is most familiar, developmentally appropriate and non-threatening to them. I have training and experience in Child Centered Play Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy. In the beginning, I will take time to get to know your child. Establishing safety, connection and trust first are most important to me. When your child can begin to trust in the safety of relationships, it allows the space to begin to process emotions and traumas. I will use non-directive (child-lead) and directive (therapist-lead) activities based on the needs of your child. Please feel free to reach out with questions anytime.
